My thoughts

I tried a sample of this foundation and although it wasn’t my colour match, I really liked it and ended up buying it in Boots.

Initially I chose the 200 Soft Beige which appeared to be slightly dark. Then I bought 100 Ivory which matches my skin tone, not perfectly but quite nice! I use the darker shade for contouring and later in the summer.

A great matte foundation for combo/oily skin types and coverage. It’s a perfect colour match that offers above medium coverage. It builds nicely, so people who need more coverage would like it. It covers redness, uneven skin tone and blemishes very well, which means I need only a minimal amount of concealer. Oh and when I use with the Benefit The POREfessional PRO Balm Primer it stays matte and perfect ALL day!

What I most like about this foundation is that it’s an honest no-SPF matte coverage that leaves my combination skin shine free, but not too matte and aged. My oily T-zone stays matte until the end of the day. People with drier skin might need to look for something else, as this foundation will be too drying for them. Everyone else will absolutely love it though. It doesn’t sit in pores, doesn’t highlight fine lines and you only need a small amount to achieve the desired effect.

I would advise you use a good foundation brush as opposed to fingers or sponges to apply it. I use my Sigma F80 Kabouki brush to apply it on cheeks, forehead and chin and my Real Techniques Expert Face brush for nose and more tricky areas like around the nostrils and corners of mouth. It is a cracking foundation to use if you know you will be photographed due to the no-SPF.

Overall, I think Rimmel are on a winner with this foundation. Top quality at affordable price.
